EAcess violation error, how is it resolved?

Resolving EAccess Violations (On Microsoft Windows XP©, procedure may vary on other systems)

Occasionally previously installed applications use older versions of the SSL .dll files, which can result in the “www.configur8or.com EAccessViolation” error message.

The following steps should resolve this issue.

Step 1 - Stop the internet Information service
Bring up the management console by right-clicking on “My computer” and by selecting “Manage”.
(if Internet Information services is not visible in the left hand pane click the "+“ symbol to the left of services and applications to expand this list.

Now right-click on the Internet information services icon and select all tasks.
From the sub menu that then appears select “Restart IIS
From the dialogue displayed open the Dropdown box (under the "What do you want IIS to do?" heading) and select “Stop Internet Services on xxxx” (Where xxxx is the computer name) and then click the “OK” button.

Now minimise the computer management console onto your task bar.

Step 2 - Copy the SSL dll files
Open windows explorer and navigate to the local configur8or website
(Typically C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\configur8orv3\)

In this folder there will be a “Scripts” subfolder, and in this folder will be 2 files ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll.

Select the 2 files, right-click on the selected files and then left-click on the “Copy” function, to place copies onto the clipboard
Now navigate to the c:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv folder and then right-clik and select “Paste” to put copies into this folder.
Close windows explorer.

Step 3 - Check the state of the Configur8or website
Enlarge the minimised copy of the management console.
Expand the IIS Process, and default website Process until you can see the configur8or website as per the above example.

Right-click the configur8or website and select properties

Ensure the “Application Protection” is set to “Low (IIS Process)

Click “OK

Step 4 - Restart Internet Information Services.
Right click on “My computer” and select “Manage”. This brings up the management console.
(if Internet Information services is not visible in the left hand pane click the "+“ symbol to the left of services and applications to expand this list.)

Now right-click on the Internet information services icon and select all tasks.
From the sub menu that then appears select “Restart IIS
From the dialogue displayed open the Dropdown box (under the "What do you want IIS to do?" heading) and select “Start Internet Services on xxxx” (Where xxxx is the computer name) and then click the “OK” button.

Close the management console.

Now if you re-open your web browser and attempt to connect to Localhost/Configur8or and the EAccess violation should no longer occur.
