How do I apply a core update to my Configur8or system?

Core updates can be done in 3 different ways, depending on version of Configur8or you are using.

For any version of Configur8or v4 (from March 2009 onwards)
Follow this guide:
Updating a Configur8or web site with the latest core files.

For versions of Configur8or v4 (prior to March 2009)

Log all users out of the system. The Configur8or Core files can then be extracted over an active website without stopping the Website in IIS.
When extracting the files you may receive an error that Cfg8.dll is in use and cannot be overwritten. It is completely safe to ignore this error, the Cfg8.dll does not need to be replaced.
Configur8or will use an update file which will be applied at the next login to the system. You must be aware that when the update is applied at the next login that any logged in users will lose their current session, e.g. and orders etc they are editing.

For this reason it is strongly recommended that you ensure nobody is logged into the system before applying the update.

For any version of Configur8or v1-v3

  1. Log all users out of the system.
  2. Load the util98.html webpage, e.g. http://www.NAMEOFYOURWEBSITE.com/Configur8orv3/util98.html
  3. Left-click on the Close ODBC Database link
  4. Stop the Configur8or website from within IIS
  5. Now extract the Configur8or Core files over the existing website.
  6. Restart the Configur8or website.
Please contact the support department should you have difficulties with the above mthods for updating Configur8or.
